According to HSE statistics from 2019/20, it's estimated that almost 700,000 incidents of violence took place in the workplace, approximately 300,000 assaults and almost 400,000 threats.
The Trades Union Congress (TUC) estimates that one in eight people will encounter violence at work. Under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, organisations are legally obliged to safeguard the health, safety, and welfare of their employees, encompassing all forms of work-related violence. The HSE defines work-related violence as "Any incident in which a person is abused, threatened, or assaulted in circumstances relating to their work."
